Find 10 self-care tips to remain active during pandemic.

I think 2020 is the worst year I have ever seen. Every one of us had different plans for this year like study, starting a new course, travel, marriage etc. Even some of my friends can’t plan their honeymoon also. All have to postpone due to this COVID-19 pandemic. Everything is off, only bad news are all around.

Many sectors have opened but in case of others, work from home is going on for so long, but we can’t get the flavour of our previous life. It seems that there is a huge difference between the life before and after COVID-19.

Social distancing is there, for which many friends, relatives remain apart from us. So, in this time many of us remain aimless, depressed and anxious. But it is the perfect time to take care of yourself and others.

In some cases, social distancing is a blessing that we at least got some time for ourselves. There is no need to pleasing others, no need to putting other person’s need before us.

In between this we have plenty of time to live with our loved ones that previously seems to be impossible due to heavy work load on our shoulder. Thus, do something for yourself that make you feel happy. To overcome this difficult time we have to take care of our own.

This article brings you about some useful self-care tips that are very important during this pandemic to live happy and fruitful.

1. Be a good cook

It is the proper time to be a cook by own. Due to absence of home delivery of foods or closing of some restaurants, chose to provide yourself a self-made dish now.

Those, who are new to it, just try to stir some noodles only. It has the power to overcome the fear of cooking. I am also a novice in this field, but this lock down has taught me a lot.

Those who cook well but cannot get enough time for cooking and depend only for restaurant foods, try to cook now for you and your family. It gives you immense pleasure.

Cooking gives you happiness that you deserve, once you have succeeded on a dish then you get some extra energy to prepare the next one. Try some new recipes and experiment with it.

So, bake a cake or just cook the food you love during this difficult time. Beside this, homemade meal is much healthier than restaurant’s food.

During this situation, taking care of your health, try to make some healthy food at home, once you have enjoyed the taste of homemade food, you can’t rely upon the outside food items.

2. Spend time on your garden or terrace

I think previously you don’t have time to enjoy your morning on your garden or to watch the sunset on your terrace because, you had to run for your work in the morning or you were too late to watch the sunset.

Now you have time in your hand to enjoy both the moments. Grab your tea or coffee and stroll in your garden to hear the bird chirps or to feel the morning breeze.

Do the same during the sunset, I swear that you will feel better after seeing colourful evening sky.

3. Discover the creative you

This boring life can be overcome by exploring the creativity you have. Every one of us has some sort of creative entity. It can refresh your brain.

In these days, I have recreated some painting inspired from Youtube, wrote some articles and cooked a lot of dish.

Just decorate your home with some DIY ideas, paint or sketch, write, sing, sew or embroider some piece of cloth you need. Whichever you love to do, please do it now for yourself. It brings peace on your mind in spite of this difficult environment.

4. Chat with your friends/ besties

Imagine how you spend your time with your best friends or your group before COVID-19. However, now social distancing is there for which you cannot catch up with others. It seems very boring for many of you.

To remain happy just stay connected with your long distance friends, or chat with your besties or best friends, share your thoughts with them.

Now you have enough time, so, you can find out the missing friends from your school or college life. Just search in social media and chat. It will give you a fine experience.

Various social networking sites are there to use, do a video call or text them to warming up your heart.

5. Take a break from the news

Yes, all of us know that a pandemic is out there, but you don’t have to check the news all time to know the number of affected or deceased persons. It can never give you mental peace at all rather you will get depressed more and more.

Beside this due to yellow journalism, you get confused between the right and wrong. So, right now, just stay updated about the news of your place and your commutable areas.

6. Stay active by exercising

Work from home is till here, specially for education sector, so, it is better to stay active by exercising each day. I know it can’t be so easy for all, even I can’t continue it.

But, taking care of your health, go for various kind of exercise, yoga, cardio etc. Now you have enough time, you can’t blame yourself just to not getting time for workout.

If your area in a containment zone due to pandemic, you can go for indoor exercise, you don’t have to go for walking outside.

Exercise makes you healthy, your minds get clear and positive and you become energized for all days long.

7. Sleep well

Don’t compromise your sleep for anything. Limit your screen time, i.e. don’t just binge and watch back to back TV series or movie. It can harm your eyes, damage your moods and destroy your health.

Seven to eight hours of sound sleep is needed for every one of us to live a happy and healthy life. During lock down, me too had develop a terrible sleeping pattern just for one more episode, and one more and so on, as because there is no hurry to get up early.

But take it from me, this pattern is very bad, and enough to destroy your mood, your work pattern, everything. It can affect your sleep cycle day by day. So, go to bed on time to lead the life peacefully tomorrow.

Music is love

8. Indulge yourself in music

Music has tremendous health benefits. Listening music is very much helpful to get back your happy mood. During this time make a playlist of your favourite music and play it.

You can built different playlist according to your mood and just indulge in it.

9. Explore your old skill

All of us have some special skill, which we have stopped for different reasons like study or work pressure. Because, we thought that as less important in the course of monetization. Now you have too much time for yourself for look back on those skills.

In my case, once upon a time I used to sing, I have some instruments also, but due to study I can’t carry out.

I know many of you have same problem like me, then it is the prime time to look back on it. Just take the instrument out of the box and play it.

Whatever the skill may be, just explore it for happiness and mental peace.
